A huge part of the writing life is learning from others. Whether it’s reading fiction, or reading about writing through books, magazines/e-zines or other authors’ blogs, I am excited if I take one nugget of information away that I can apply to my writing.
To that end, I want to reciprocate. That means structuring this blog to provide interesting and helpful topics that both writers and readers find worthy of their internet surfing time.
As one of my new features, I’m looking for people who would like to write a guest blog on my site. I’m not just looking for other writers, although I welcome you for sure! But also, I believe we can learn so much from those people who do not write themselves, but are fans of storytelling – readers of fiction. They become so adept at learning about character development, plot and more – that I really do think they can offer some of the best advice to those of us who hope to entertain them in the near future.
If you are a writer, or a reader who is interested in guest blogging, please e-mail me and I’ll get in touch with you to discuss. For those of you trying to create your writer’s platform, guest blogging is a great opportunity for us to widen your reach.
I’m hoping to have a guest blog every other week, along with these other new features that will start the week after Thanksgiving:
Tuesdays will be “Turn the Page”. These posts will be either book reviews of a book I’ve just finished, or an online book club discussion of a current read. Either way, I welcome your input. If you’re interested in doing a Guest Review of a book you’ve read, drop me a line.
Thursdays will be “The Vault”. Here you’ll find resources I’ve come across that I think are worth sharing. These could be links to another author’s post, summaries of material I’ve received at conferences or a myriad of other tips you can add to your own arsenal! Got something you think is worth sharing? E-mail me the specifics, and if I use, I will be sure to give you credit and a link back to your own site/blog.
Every other Saturday will be reserved for our Guest Bloggers. Be sure to get in touch with me if you’re interested in doing a bit of self-promoting…it’s all about supporting each other’s efforts! On Saturdays where I don’t have a guest blog, I’ll be keeping everyone up-to-date on the progress I’m making with Oldsters.
I hope that these regular features and guest blogs will entertain and inspire…
